Every day we read aloud as a class at our rug. Due to a small and very worn down space, students are often cramped and struggle to do their best work. Throughout the day students also have time to complete written work where they are comfortable. It is important for us to have a warm and welcoming area where students can completely engross themselves in stories. This will be a space for students to create and become characters from amazing books. With this new rug and books, students will have more space for reading, analyzing and even writing their own stories. Students are always able to choose books that interest them for independent reading. The best way to increase reading skills is to read more and to read something that you love. These books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. They already show an amazing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with literature.
