Hi all! I am asking for one iPad mini to be used by myself and my students during the day, specifically during a crisis. I have found several iPad apps that are excellent to use during student crises. These apps include deep breathing exercises and anger management (a Sesame Street App actually, which my younger students love), but are made in such a fun way that the children enjoy them. These applications can significantly decrease the time spent calming a child down during a crisis, allowing them to self regulate more independently, and therefore spend less time out of class. I’ve used these apps for years, on my personal cell phone, but I feel that the use of my personal cellphone can cause a conflict (as our phones are not supposed to be used during the work day). An iPad would also be helpful in that I would have all student information with me at all times, and could look up IEP’s, behavioral intervention plan and diagnoses as needed during a crisis, which would benefit the students I am working with! Since it is very difficult to remember every student's IEP and behavioral plan, an iPad would give me the opportunity to have these students data with me, so that on the way to a crisis or during an issue I can pull my iPad out and look up the information that is needed (i.e. their behavioral intervention plan and functional behavior assessment, and their IEP).
