Kids are surrounded by digital technology in their everyday life. We teach them math, reading, and science because it surrounds them, and is essential to their success as an adult. Well, if technology is also surrounding them, shouldn't we teach that as well? It's such a huge part of their lives, and will only become a bigger part as time goes on, and things become more technologically advanced. They need to know that what happens in technology isn't magic, but that they can also create useful programs. The Sphero SPRK robot will inspire, and challenge my brilliant students. They are creators, and innovators. This robot will increase their knowledge of technology, and better prepare them for a growing workforce in the technology field. A few of the many things they will learn are computational thinking, problem solving, anticipating and avoiding problems, algorithmic thinking, and perseverance. I can already see the smiles on their faces if we get the Sphero SPRK robot.
