We are a 5th grade class at a charter school in Arizona. We are a Title I school which means we have a high percentage of low social economic families. Because of this, teachers must spend a large amount of personal money for supplies such as books, paper, pencils, etc. Being a charter school, we do not get as much funding from the state. The text books we use are recycled from local school districts. They often do not meet the state standards and are in poor condition. This requires the teachers to look elsewhere for curriculum to make sure we are meeting the state standards. Our class is wonderful! We work hard learning with the supplies that we have and have as much fun as we possibly can while doing so.
