My science classroom, like most science classrooms, is underfunded. Each year the science department at our school is given $500 to spend on supplies for all of the sciences. Unfortunately that does not leave much room for expensive items like Electronic Balances. Last year the two very, very old balances broke and it is time for some updated ones in my classroom lab. This year, my chemistry students will be working on a project to explore the chemical processes of soap making and biodiesel fuel and we will be in need of good electronic balances. In any chemistry classroom, a good set of balances is important for engaging in laboratory activities. I would love to see my students be able to do more complex lab investigations, as well as share the balances with other classes and other teachers in the science department.
