I have the most amazing group of first grade learners! I have already learned so much from them about teaching and life and feel grateful for getting to work with them every day. The students in my classroom come from very different places--some not knowing where they will spend the next night, and some very comfortably living. I find this diversity to be one of the hugest assets to our classroom. Just as we have very different backgrounds of students, the range of learners I have in my classroom is very diverse as well. I have students working on pre-kindergarten skills and students working at a mid second grade level and everything in between! Trying to be sure I support my most struggling students while challenging my highest achieving students is one of the most difficult things about my job.
