The posters I chose are about people in world and U.S. history who expressed bravery. For instance, Frida Kahlo's art. Kahlo had physical pain her entire life, but still created amazing art that provides a history of the time. I also picked Ceser Chavez and Dolores Huerta because both of them faced difficult challenges, but created strong unions. I also picked young heroes like Greta Thunberg, so they will realize that you can change the world whenever you want. I also chose the Civil Rights leaders, and I chose a poster on black inventions because the students need to learn about innovation. I often use art to teach points of view or commentary on history. I have tried to pull different types of art, pictures, quotes, and paintings that we can use to teach different eras of history. Students need to see themselves in people in history. I want to create an environment where all types of students can identify with famous people. I have many diversity posters, but I wanted to expand and add more cultural pieces this year.
