Our little learners can see their big ideas come to life by "renting" - or checking out - books from a classroom "READ" box - commonly referred to as a lending library. The book libraries requested directly relate to the topics we cover day to day in class. The All About Me and Families libraries will help us to develop our social and emotional skills. As we continue to cultivate creativity in the classroom, the STEM Stories library will give the students opportunities to problem solve through literature. Along with the books requested, I am also requesting book totes for students to transport their books. The library cards and pocket card holders will be used to give the students with a real life library experience. Providing a Read-box for the students will give students the opportunity to exercise their literacy skills at home and help nurture student-family relationships. Reading with a loved one, in a comfortable environment not only encourages bonding, but also gives children the chance to further their vocabulary and language skills. Implementing a Read-box lending library will foster positive interactions in families and invite them to get involved in their child's learning.
