Many students experience trauma as early as elementary school. With the onset of trauma, students can exhibit poor emotion regulation which leads to difficulty in the classroom. My students love to visit my office and play with building blocks as we talk about difficult situations. With the addition of a puppet theater, puppets, students will be given another avenue of communication through play and conversation. Students will use the puppet theater and puppets to learn how to express emotion in healthy ways and apply those skills to everyday life. Puppet shows will take place in classroom guidance lessons and as a form of play therapy in individual counseling sessions. As a counselor, I will interact with students using the puppets promoting conversation.
