My middle school students will absolutely love reading the novel Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. It is a wonderful coming of age story that is loved by both boys and girls. This novel helps students with so many literary concepts and objectives and also is a wonderful teaching tool for character development. This book helps us to remember to always be kind to one another and live by the Golden Rule. These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. These books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
