I truly believe our classroom should function like a room in my students' homes that they love spending time in. We need more options for seating so students can gain independence when navigating their classroom. I believe in flexibility. No student learns the same way in the same spot. In our school we spend a great deal of time focusing on building healthy relationships. I often see my students finding comfortable reading spots so they can share their learning, however I think they will be able to share more with each other if they were able to kick back and relax! We work each day to promote kindness, empathy and excellent work habits. Having more spots to learn will promote these values. I love watching my students come together to share their ideas and flexible seating will allow them to do that more often! I think the flexible seating options will make our room more warm and friendly.
