Students come from diverse cultures and life experiences. These experiences contribute to the way students navigate through their daily routines. Poetry and Creative writing can be used as a form of self-expression to allow students to explore different aspects of their characteristics, life, perspectives and personal growth. With student and facilitator collaboration in the Poetry/Creative Writing Club, students will use writing to explore their narratives, re-framing stories or inspire themselves to create different forms of writing that highlight their talent. This project "The Bright Mic" will help fund the beginning stages of the creative writing club, so that we can make it an educational but also comfortable experience for students. The materials will help contribute and make a difference in students' learning and here is how. Equipment: ION Audio Tailgater (iPA77) | Portable Bluetooth PA Winsome Wood 29-Inch Square Leg Barstools Pyle Compact Base Black Microphone Stand Singing Machine SMM-205 Unidirectional Dynamic Microphone AmazonBasics Extension Cord AmazonBasics Power Cord These will help set the stage in the room we are using when we have our own "Open Mic" each month when students will showcase the writing they have been working on. This will guide students to work on their performance and public speaking skills and also connect with their peers. Writing Material: Merriam-Webster's Pocket Dictionary Webster's Thesaurus for Students, Third Edition Leather Writing Journal Notebook Notepad Journal Bulk Pack BIC Round Stic Xtra Life Ballpoint Pen, Medium Point (1.0mm), Black, 144-Count. These will support students while they are producing their literary work so that they will be able to have the resources they need while creating. Snacks: Healthy Snacks Care Package (Count 30) Blue Ribbon Care Package The snacks will be provided so students can eat while they work or when they need to take a break from one of their writing stations.
