So many students struggle with reading, identifying important content, and summarizing different types of literature. As a science teacher I try my best to push students to new limits by having them read in my class as well as annotate, summarize, and work with context clues in science literature. I want to make this more engaging for my students by using black lights to light up their ideas! Lets make reading fun again! If my project is funded students will be able to highlight important parts of scientific texts and then we will use our black lights to scan our papers and see our work light up! This will create a meaningful learning experience that is new and exciting for students whom like or dislike reading. When they use the black light the content that they highlighted will stand out and glow. We can use this to talk about how the main ideas they highlighted can be used as a summary or to review.
