By having leveled readers, we will help my students be successful on their reading level and empower them to move upward. It will also help them learn to love to read because the content won't be frustrating. Reading can be a challenge for many students and in first grade, it is very important that they learn to read or they won't be successful in grades to come. Many students are still learning letters and that means that we still have a long way to go. Focusing on sight words will help them read at any level and continue to move up levels learning more and more.
