One of the reclassification criteria for students to exit the EL program is that the students meet the score requirement for the computer adaptive state test that is given every May. However, with minimal access to computers, these students do not get the exposure and practice that they need in order to be successful on the state test. We are a Title I school, and are one of the few schools in which all students receive free lunch. We have fewer than 175 laptops in our whole school that must be shared among over 750 students. Having a few stationary Chromebooks in my class will give my students more opportunities to learn how to maneuver and operate them so that they can be prepared for the state test.
