Though many of my students are hard workers, very few have the resources to excel in a math classroom. Research has shown that when calculators are used in a math classroom that productivity improves. Students become less stressed on the calculations involved and are able to focus more on how to solve the problem. I have personally witnessed the benefits of calculators in my classroom and they definitely made a difference. Every student should have the benefit of using a calculator in a math classroom. A calculator is almost a necessity on the ACT. It helps save time and will give the students a better chance to make a higher score. They will only be good with it on the ACT if they are practicing using it in the classroom. In the past teachers would say, "You won't always have a calculator on you." Now that technology has advanced, this is no longer the case. These calculators are valuable tools and I want everyone in all my classes to be able to benefit from them.
