Kindergarten students will be given the opportunity to encounter the visiting Mo Willems exhibit at the Children's Discovery Center. They will visit the world of Mo Willems and his most cherished characters including Elaphant and PIggie, Knuffle Bunny, and The Pigeon. Themes like "what makes a good friend" and "how to make yourself understood" are addressed as the children make their own art and explore the various hands-on elements of the exhibit. This traveling exhibit will enhance my students' love of literature by giving them an authentic connection to an author we study each year and to some of their favorite book characters. All students deserve the opportunity to experience hands-on learning outside the school environment. Mo Willems is one of the most popular authors for young children, and my students are some of his biggest fans. By exposing these kindergarteners to this limited-time opportunity, they will walk away with an even deeper love for the books they read at school and with memories that will last for years to come.
