Reading is such an important part of learning and keeping our brains active. We know that too much screen time is unhealthy and reading on a screen is much harder for many kids than reading a book! We want students to still be experiencing the magic of a good book. Through the shutdown, we have been trying to keep students reading, but reading on the computers isn't the same. We want to be able to put books in their hands! Some books on the list are common texts for students to use for the rest of the school year as part of our literature circles. The other books are in the hope of giving each student a book for themselves to read for their own enjoyment. I know my kids and have selected the books to target their interests. This would be an awesome surprise for them!
