Everyday after our first recess the students come to the carpet. They sit down excited to hear a dynamic read aloud. We have learned about so many different people, different events in history, and about a variety of character traits. I believe it is so important to read to children as much as you can in elementary school. It takes the burden off of them trying to read and just lets them enjoy the story. Diverse students need diverse books, with the new books we will learn about Michael Jordan "Salt in His Shoes", Jack Cousteau "Manfish", and how we can learn to change our behavior from "Each Kindness". We are ready for these new books to take us to new places, to discover new things, and to help us understand our world. Books are so special. I cannot wait to share these books with my students.
