Flexible seating allows students to take control and ownership of their learning in the classroom. My current options for flexible seating are limited to yoga balls, desk chairs with the backs removed, or the floor with clipboards. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they will learn best, which helps increase engagement and decrease unwanted behaviors. My students love sitting anywhere in my classroom that isn't in a traditional desk. They sit on the floor, on the yoga balls, or even on the table itself. I want to go all-in and give all my students the opportunity for seating they deserve in order for them to learn the best possible way. The futon will let students comfortably collaborate and work together. The table raisers will allow me to raise tables I already have in my classroom, and the coffee table will give students the opportunity to work on the floor and in a group setting, while finally, the rocking chairs will let them move while also staying engaged. These options will show my students that I value their opinions on their own learning and show the positive impact that choices have in the classroom.
