Our students' success has always been built upon having students that are driven, dedicated and determined. We raise money each year to take our classes to the Student Television Network (STN) convention to expose them to the best of the best journalists, editors, camera operators, and media programs. Our kids compete and succeed against other top high school media programs from throughout the United States. While our kids are building world-class skills, our equipment is sub-par. Your support will put a MacBook in the hands of able, hardworking and caring student journalist! Going to STN each year exposes the savage inequalities that still exist in public education: our kids compete against students that have the best equipment that money can buy. We work to raise money for student travel to the conference, through car washes, pancake breakfasts, bingo nights, etc., to ensure that money isn't a hurdle to students participating in the trip. Unfortunately, that means that we don't have the capacity to raise money for equipment replacement. Our kids sincerely appreciate and value their shared equipment, and are good caretakers of it, but right now we only have six computers available to loan out. We often have kids that want to access the equipment but can't take it because we just don't have it to loan out. Your support would make a big difference in the lives of these student journalists!
