My students are hard working individuals that would benefit from having the technology at hand in the classroom to further their education. A classroom set of graphing calculators would allow them to delve deeper into the content in order to gain a better understanding of the material. You must be thinking, "Why doesn't she have students use DESMOS (online graphing tool) because it is free?" While DESMOS is a great tool, it is not available for students to use during standardized testing and for the ACT test. I want my students to learn how to properly use a hand-held graphing calculator so they can perform better in the classroom and in high-stakes testing situations. Because I have approximately 90 students that will benefit from the use of the calculators, they will only be allowed to be used within the school building hence allowing all students an opportunity to use the calculators. There are even times when a lesson calls for use of technology in order to master a standard and I do not have a full classroom set of graphing calculators for the students to use, so it would be helpful to me as well so I can teach to all my students.
