Every day my students do their best to tackle the challenges put to them. We often work together, discussing the steps of the writing process or the logic behind math strategies. With a document camera, my students will be able to watch as we manipulate math tools or make revisions to a writing sample. If I expect my students to be able to do hands-on activities, I need to be able to set an example for them and guide them in their practice.
This document camera will allow my students to be more deeply engaged in their learning and will be used multiple times every single day. My students love to read but they also love to be read to. This equipment will let every child in the room see the pictures that go with a story. Observing something as small as a live insect will become possible for every child at once enabling us to have a full class discussion about our observations. Our classroom currently does not have any type of projector so group work often requires the whole class crowding together on the carpet which can lead to off task behaviors. By funding this project, each student will be able to better focus and participate in our whole group instruction on a daily basis.
