My Kindergarten students are lacking in letter recognition and letter sounds. Many don't know basic sight words, color words, or know how to write their name. The goal is to help the students recognize their letters and sounds by January and start to decode cvc words. By using magnetic letters, games, and songs the children will be more interested in learning to read ,because it's a engaging . Many students learn by playing games and using manipulatives. I plan to use whiteboards, magnetic letters, and Word Building activities to help my emergent early readers with decoding words and phonics patterns, and rhyming words. I will teach Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade students sight words through games. Children often get tired of drill style techniques such as flash cards and worksheets . By using games, it will make learning more fun and engaging for my students. I plan to use white boards and magnetic letters for my Third Grade students to help them with phonics on their level. I will also use Reading Games with Power Pens and Digraph Learning Centers. to teach them reading skills and comprehension. Due to Covid 19 many students have fallen behind in learning, my goal is to help close the learning gap, while having fun learning to read. Many of the Kindergarten students in my school did not attend Pre-K last year, due to Covid 19. Many students lacked a working device, and internet access making it difficult to attend online classes. This school year, it is my goal to help my students become more engaged and excited about learning to read.
