Our school has high trauma in our area but with the recent fires that evacuated our town and nearly every town around our lake has made our school even higher trauma based school. With my students that already have Autism, ADHD and other disabilities that already causes stress and anxiety, we need items to help our students relax, fidget and reduce their stress. Stress and fidget toys can reduce some of my students' anxiety and keep them on a task in class. Weighted blankets and toys are a good source of calming technique that helps my class be able to sit and feel capable of handling the work given to them. The bicycle pedals are great for my ADHD children that need that extra energy to move but not get out of their seats. Having texture toys like sand and sequence help calm my students too. Puppets are great for the kids to talk to because most of the time my students rather tell their secrets to a puppet because they feel that it is a security for them.
