This year, my passionate K-12 Music students have shown an interest for animals. My students are working hard to reach their reading and math goals and I want to provide a unique way of combining their passion and interest with academics! I would love to be able to have therapy dogs come into my music classes to bring their learning to life.By having therapy dogs help my K-12 students with math and literacy, students would have the opportunity to work on their reading and math in a creative and supportive environment that they thrive in. Our reading goal this year is to have student increase their reading stamina. Our math goal is to help provide a solid foundation in financial literacy. We can integrate the two by having students read books on financial literacy to therapy dogs or even singing to the dogs! This is an opportunity that my students would normally not get. These furry class visitors will not only be a great reward for student's hard work, but also a way to continue their perseverance in learning a hard concept. We hope this authentic experience will instill the love of animals, find their voice, and the responsibility of being financially literate in our students for a lifetime.
