Nearpod will allow us to interact collaboratively in a lesson. Students can talk to in pairs or in groups and write their ideas. They can use the draw it feature to create models of math problems. We can use the virtual field trips to explore new places and have an unforgettable experience. In this way technology is not taking away from the learning but rather enhancing it, giving the teacher more ways to connect with the students and giving the students more opportunities to show their skills. Nearpod’s interactive activities and dynamic media is multi-sensory learning. Students can watch a video or read text. They can respond to a question in a way that plays off their strength – drawing, writing or adding an image via Google Safe Search. Gamification, simulations, 3D images and virtual reality are built into the lesson. For example, we are learning about ecosystems in different continents of the world. How exciting to be able to take a virtual field trip to those places and be able to classify what we see and develop an understanding of how everything is connected! By donating to our project students will not only be able to experience learning in an engaging way and create real-world connections but also increase their academic achievement as their learning becomes more interactive.
