Research shows that gross motor skills are needed for almost everything: running, walking, balance, coordination and more. Children develop these skills during early childhood and they improve as children get older. If a child does not have proper upper body strength or posture, they may have trouble learning to write. These trikes can help learning occur even at recess as students practice the skills of "crossing the midline". Crossing midline is the ability to move ones hands, feet, and eye not only together, but across and to the other side of the body. This helps to build new pathways in the brain for additional cognitive skills such as reading, writing, self-care tasks, and physical activity.
