American Sign Language is a visual and spatial language, therefore everything that we do is signed! With so many students and so little class time, sometimes its difficult to formally assess and correct each student's signing abilities in the classroom during one class period. I try to use technology in the classroom as often as possible to give students the opportunity to film themselves so that I can provide personalized feedback to them. Students who were absent or are behind will also have access to the iPads to complete assignments on Canvas and catch up on work that they missed. Being able to accurately express yourself is one of the most important and most difficult part of the language learning process. Practice opportunities are key for them to master this skill. The iPad will help the teacher to evaluate and provide feedback to multiple students in a short period of time and provide documentation of the student's proficiency.
