Many of the resources needed are to replace tools and supplies that have been provided by teachers. Too prove the concept of a maker space would work for our program, we worked with students to begin building our maker space. Our school provided the resources to begin building workbenches and staff provided tools and other supplies. Over the course of two months the students planned, organized supplies and build four workbenches to be used in their new space. Students were so excited to be part of creating their own space, which included building workbenches, painting the walls and rearranging the space exactly how they wanted it. Our goal is to gather supplies needed to make this space a positive working environment where students can create, build and learn the skills needed to build their own projects in the future.
