This grant will help build a classroom library to encourage students to read both academically and leisurely. A classroom library with an extensive variety of genres is more likely to have a book students find interesting. This would be most beneficial for reluctant readers, because they are more than likely to find a book that grabs their attention. Finding a book that they love in a classroom library could spark their curiosity in finding other books that are similar. The list of books was compiled by all 84 of my students. Students discussed different titles they would like to see in their classroom and what genres they would like more of. By adding these resources to my library my students will have the opportunity to dive into a book they have been eagerly waiting to read. By having two copies of some of the titles they will able to connect and discuss with their peers. The impact of this results in my students reaching higher academic success.
