The donations to this project will be used to purchase a reading software program called Letters alive(r) that incorporates evidence-based best practices to teach early literacy skills. It incorporates animals and various science themes which little kids love! I want to use and build on their knowledge of technology (at such a young age) in a meaningful and purposeful way. This is a hands-on, interactive, and engaging way to help my students build literacy skills necessary to learn how to read. The augmented reality shows animals in their natural habitats and sparks that curiosity and joy that we want every student to have. This program will appeal to a broad range of learning styles and abilities. The learning kit includes a full-year supplemental curriculum aligned to kindergarten state standards with 26 alphabet cards, 97 sight word cards, and 84 word family cards that spring to life in 3D through the advanced 3D technology known as augmented reality. What an amazing experience for my class! The Alphabet rug will be used with iPads and the Letter Alive Journal will be used for each child.
