Story Works and Time for Kids magazine subscriptions help promote higher order thinking skills while providing engaging reading material for students. It can often be a struggle for students to enjoy reading with the competition of technology these days. These magazine subscriptions captivate the students attention leaving them eager to read more. Story Works provides exposure to a variety of genres and sparks interests in topics and genres that students might not normally consider reading. Time for Kids provides students with the opportunity to read and learn about current events that are happening in our country in world. I love to use these to promote discussions to promote deep thinking and opinions about the world we live in. I am also asking for the novel set Class Dismissed by Allan Woodrow so that my students can engage in a novel study during our fiction unit. It is so fun watching them delve deep into the text to make inferences and discover themes as they watch the characters change and grow while applying the experiences to their own life. We are so excited to read this year and thank you so much for supporting our classroom.
