Differentiation is key when supporting the variety of needs that each students' education deserves. Achieving that as an individual classroom teacher though is a challenge that every educator strives to improve upon. Supporting students intellectual growth by incorporating technology, not only strengthens their cognitive ability of that concept, but it also allows for their curiosity to be sparked in using that technology in other ways as well. Literacy lends educators the pathway to supporting readers of all ability levels on a daily basis. Through the incorporation of technology, students can listen to stories via iTunes, by focusing on the story's use of print, while following along in a book. This can be completed whilst their teacher meets with another group who are working on letter-sounds, a third group is working on rhyming words around the room, and the fourth group uses laminated letters to build words. Our students deserve to strengthen their own ability levels, while still working together to encourage the growth of their classmates. These Ipads would truly benefit my students, through sparking their curiosity in reading, by experiencing multiple genres of literature outside of their reading ability level. They will also allow me to serve multiple reading levels at once, by providing a fun and exciting center that each student will be thrilled to be a part of. In addition, they will also allow my students to show off their own work, by allowing them to take pictures of their work throughout the day, to send home to their parents, through our ClassDojo webpage. The uses for them will be endless!
