Imagine DIY meets education. That is maker movement! It's an opportunity for students to move from being passive consumers of knowledge to creative developers and engineers. Providing students with the time, space, and tools to engage in student initiated projects allows them to turn knowledge into action. The Makedo Tool set will provide us with a 'low tech' resource that can be used again and again. Making is key to what it means to be human. It's opportunities for expression, creativity, and innovation. This is more than just creating a final project. It's about the process that the students engage in that supports the development of their ability to think, adapt, pivot, change, and reflect. To become divergent thinkers. Our first project using the Makedo Tool set will be linked to Michigan history and our experiences of historic buildings seen at Fort Michilimackinac, Historic Mill Creek, and the Mighty Mackinac Bridge.
