Cause and Effect toys are loved by all students. They can be enjoyed by students of all abilities. While playing with toys such as The Busy Ball Popper, students initiate an interaction and increase hand eye coordination while often using spontaneous speech as they play. Students who have a difficulty interacting with others will make quick gains using The Rain Drum. The sound is so unique and calming it will cause students to use their voice, sign language or a device to request another turn. This toy is also used to increase joint attention between participants as they look at the drum and each other.
Donating cause and effect toys and supplies will allow students to use their eyes to watch, their ears to hear and their hands to do as they increase joint attention and language opportunities with adults and peers in the classroom. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math skills can be fostered, even as early as preschool. STEM in preschool is achieved in a variety of ways. Cause and effect toys have the fundamental science concept of prediction. Cause and effect toys require students to ask, "What will happen if we try this?" Engineering is used in cause and effect toys as older preschool students try to figure out how and why a specific toy is able to operate the way it does. As students play and learn with these toys, they will increase their ability to problem solve. By donating these items, students will increase friendships and a feeling of belonging as they play, learn and interact with their peers.
