There is a lot of research in the education world that states if a child is not reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade, it is highly unlikely that they will ever be able to catch up. I want to change that for my students. I want to bring more books and resources into the classroom to grow their reading skills. Bringing more books into the classroom opens more opportunities for reading during the day. Having flexible seating will allow students to stay engaged and recharged in their learning. Adding math mentor texts in my classroom library allows me to integrate reading across other content areas as well. Much of our community lost everything during Hurricane Harvey. A year later, we are rebuilding an even stronger community. Basic necessities are the priority, putting books at the bottom of the list, which I would like to be able to provide in my classroom.
