Give me a B(ee-Bot) Bee-Bots are a wonderful way to introduce young children to computer coding. These clever tools can be programmed to move across a work mat to help teach sequencing, estimation, measurement and problem solving. Rather than simply move paper clues into sequential order, think how much fun my second graders will have programming a Bee Bot to move multiple steps across a work mat. In math, students will estimate and then measure distances in Bee-Bot steps. Students would love to find all the routes from one location to another on a map in Social Studies. The problem solving possibilities are endless. I would use the money to buy five Bee Bots. This number would allow me to have students work in collaborative groups of three or four to become coders in the present, instead of waiting to be coders of the future.
