My students enjoy drawing pictures and "sharing their stories". The materials I am asking for will help move them up to the next stage in their writing. During Shared Writing time, I will be able to use the easel to model sentences and "sharing the pen" while writing with students. The students will stay engaged while one student is writing on the chart paper because they will use their whiteboards to write at the same time. This project supports CCR.W.4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. Many language standards are also able to be covered during Shared Writing such as spelling untaught words phonetically and demonstrating command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
