We have literacy rotations every day, during which the first graders spend 15 minutes working at reading, writing, and word work stations. The small-group setting makes for rich opportunities to meet specific needs and participate in engaging activities. My higher-level students are hungry for more challenging, more interesting books, and your gift can help create a lifelong love and desire for great literature. With multiple copies of high-interest chapter books like "Junie B. Jones" and "Magic Tree House", and "Ramona Quimby: Age 8", students can engage with novels in small groups and build skills of predicting, questioning, visualizing, and vocabulary acquisition.
