As part of a final culminating activity, seniors are to explore things they are passionate about and come up with a lesson on that topic to teach to special needs students in grades 3-5. In the pilot program seniors taught kids how to make slime, decorated cupcakes, sang karaoke, talked about sports, made friendship bracelets, took pictures for scrapbooks, painted and cooked. By supporting this project, you are helping to create positive relationships between upperclassmen and students in lower grades that may not love coming to school everyday. By creating connections for kids that sometimes struggle, and having a fun enrichment activity to look forward to, we are allowing them to have some fun and feel successful-which is all any kid wants.
