These books will elevate the love of learning in my classroom. My classroom has two libraries, one filled with English texts and one filled with Spanish texts. My classroom libraries are areas that my students really love and enjoy more every day. It is a space where I can sit with them to read or they can get comfortable and read on their own. Reading independently is part of our daily schedule. Some of my students do not yet have the Spanish reading skills that they need to start reading in English. Those learners look for Spanish books to continue developing their reading skills while looking forward to eventually reading in English. Every book and level that I included in my library has a particular name or interest that reminds me of one of my students. They love to find new books and seeing them reading with passion fills my heart. The past couple of weeks of school I have watched them reading harder and harder titles. They are eager to move from their current level to the next as fast as they can. Students need to be able to select books that help them to continue developing their reading skills at their level, fascinate them so they may continue to love reading and give them the chance to use their native language. The best way to develop reading skills is by reading more, and these books will extend my students reading skills. My students showed an impressive interest in independent reading, and this project will help to continue supporting their experiences with a book in hand.
