As Kindergarteners it can be very challenging to access computer programs because their skills of using a mouse are minimal. However, they are stronger at their abilities to use a tablet (a touch screen.) Our district has recently implemented a new program and I am very excited to use it in my classroom. The use of the tablets will give my students access to many programs to help them with their reading, writing, math and technology skills. However, my Kindergartners are not proficient in using a computer so this will hinder their ability to access the programs. Use of a tablet is also so motivating and fun for young children. The tablets will be used to reinforce all their learning in small group and independent work time. I also only have 3 computers in my classroom with 20 students to support. Technology is so important for children to learn to use and many of my students do not have access to a computer. My students love computer time and with the tablets I will be able to let more students have time on the computer while supporting their learning. I want to be able to provide a multi-sensory approach to learning and the use of the tablets will help reach all my students.
