Our classroom carpet is over fifteen years old. Aside from being well loved, our carpet is very colorful with lots of letters, numbers and shapes on small squares. While one may consider it a bright and cheery rug for an early childhood classroom, it's unfortunately, too distracting for little learners and also over stimulating for others with more diverse needs. The rug I've selected as a replacement is commonly found in many kindergarten and preschool classrooms. It has large squares which make distinguishing personal space easy for children, and also only five colors that won't distract attention away from learning.
