I have noticed that flexible seating has made a difference in my students engagement and they have been less disruptive of their peers when given a choice in their seating. Independent work time has been more successful and students have got more work completed than when they were sitting in table groups. Making sure students are comfortable is an important part in ensuring that they stay engaged, motivated, and excited about learning. The floor cushions, wobble cushions, and lap desks will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: using pillows to sit or lay on the floor, sitting under tables with clip boards, sitting or laying on the floor with a clip board. I have seen a drastic change in my students ability to work more efficiently when they get a choice in their seating. I hope that by providing more comfortable options we will continue to have a positive change.
