The products requested will allow for the students at our school affected by trauma to have a de-escalation area to allow them to have a safe place to relax without feeling over-stimulated or overwhelmed. Weighted stuffed animals allow for those affected by trauma to have safe-touch when they are in a sense of "high stress.” Safe spaces allow for students to calm down quicker than when they feel as though they are vulnerable to opinions, thoughts or reactions from others. With the weighted stuffed animals and the appropriate space to use the supplies, the students will be able to be provided the proper services quicker (with giving the student their own choices) and support their social emotional learning process.
