I am looking to create an age appropriate, diverse library for my high schoolers. I have chosen thirty books because I will be turning thirty this year and would love to add thirty new books to my library. All students deserve the opportunity to read books that challenge them and are of high interest to them. My current library is geared towards younger, lower level readers. In order to create a reading culture in my room, I need to expand the options that my students can choose from. I also work with a diverse group of students and want to give them the opportunity to read diverse authors and diverse stories. My students will be able to choose from the following books for various activities. My goal is to do a shared reading among a small group of students and we need more copies of the books. The students also need more high interest books for independent reading and partner reading. My shared reading group will be able to choose from the following books to read and then we will dig deeper about the meaning into the book or what sparked the author to write to book: - The Librarian of Auschwitz - Perks of Being a Wallflower - The Hate U Give - March - One of Us is Lying - The Sun is also a Star - Dear Martin - X: A Novel - Mockingbird - Fish in a Tree
