My students have had no stringed instruments to play in music for the entire time I have been at the campus. This is my fourth year. How exciting would it be for me to be able to provide ukuleles for my student to play and use to read music and perform as an ensemble? Playing instruments is a favorite for the students and most of them have never played any type of stringed instrument. The skills used in learning to play a ukulele directly apply to required music objectives - playing an instrument, melody, rhythm and more! The requested items will be used to make STEM to STEAM connections through music concepts and objective related to the science of sound. I will be associating mathematics in relation to rhythm and note values and well as associating melody in relation to pitch relationships. I hope to be able to provide my students the opportunity to learn to play ukuleles!
