The books that I am asking for will allow me to run successful literature circles in my classes and allow my students to increase their reading endurance and fluency. In the classroom it is more beneficial to break down small sections in what are called close reads. However, the reading of full novels is essential to building the reading endurance and fluency that my students need in order to keep up with college level courses. In order to remedy this I have create literature circle projects. Throughout each grading cycle students, grouped by reading level, will read a book from cover-to-cover. Each week students will complete a discussion activity and meet in groups to discuss their novels. At the end of the grading cycle, students will complete an analysis project. The issue I am having with successfully running literature circles is my limited access to texts. If I want to order through the district they will never come in time. I can't afford to personally buy all of the books for my students, and many of my students can't afford to purchase the books themselves. Because of my circumstances I am unable to successfully run literature circles even though I know they will be exceptionally beneficial for my students and help ensure future educational success.
