Our kids enjoy cooking in the classroom. The measuring of ingredients is a fun way to look at math. And the texture, smell, and weight of various ingredients is good for sensory goals. Pancakes and eggs are a kid favorite and the batter bowl and mixer would be used to mix the pancake batter. The skillet and griddle would be used to actually cook the pancakes. The potholders and oven mitts would ensure student safety. The kitchen utensil set and measuring cups would be useful in almost everything we will be making this year. Besides the pancakes and eggs, we hope to make applesauce, pudding, mac and cheese, and lasagna. We use adaptive recipes and the students are 100% involved between finding the ingredients, mixing, pouring, opening boxes, counting ingredients, cleaning up when we are all finished.
